Son of Cecil the Lion shot dead by trophy hunters in Zimbabwe two years after dad killed by US dentist

Six-year-old Xanda, who had several young cubs, was killed in the same national park where his father was slain by American Walter Palmer

The son of Cecil – the lion killed by a US dentist two years ago – has been shot dead by trophy hunters in Zimbabwe.

Xanda, aged six with several young cubs, died at the Hwange National Park where his father was also slain.

Cecil was shot by trophy-hunting American dentist Walter Palmer, sparking an international uproar.

The Lions of Hwange National Park shared a Facebook post that said: “Today we heard that a few days ago, Xanda, the son of #CecilTheLion has been shot on a trophy hunt.

“Xanda is still a young father at 6.2 years old and has few young cubs.
